Dholera Special Investment Region started getting popular amongst masses as it got declared to be India’s first smart city. Of the 100 smart cities that have been planned in our country to ease out the issues arising of rapid urbanization, Dholera SIR emerged as the first one to be developed. The icing on the cake was that its development as a smart city was being closely monitored and favored by Mr. Modi since it was his dream project which he nurtured way before becoming the Prime Minister of India.
The first Dholera news that made it big was the city being sanctioned Rs. 2,784 crores for development of trunk infrastructure project. This project was a miniature project to be built across 22.5 Sq. ft. land undertaken with the objective of developing basic amenities such as roads, electric and water supply, sewage treatment plant, etc. in the city. The basic set up was also planned to attract investments through PPP model for the project.
Dholera news again hit popularity as the Dholera International Airport Project was approved by AAI and sanctioned funds. 1700 hectares of land, 20 Kms away from DSIR was also set aside for the project.
In a recent update on Dholera SIR latest news, Wipro Technologies was declared as an ICT consultant for the project. Prior to that, L&T had won an EPC contract worth Rs, 1,734 crores for construction of roads and services in the city. Simultaneously, Cube Constructions Engineering Ltd. was also given the task to construct ABCD building in the city.
If the rapid pace of development continues in the city, Dholera shall be ready to live in by 2019 and be home to about 1 lakh people.
The Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC) has finalised a policy to allot land developed by it at four sites along the proposed 1,504-km corridor, which will enable industries to acquire the land for the first time to set up units. …
